SASONKO Jewelry House is preparing a new collection of small-scale ornaments and sculptures along with the artist and sculptor Mikhail Shemyakin.
March 11, 2016, in St. Petersburg, an exclusive contract on the sale of the collection in Russia, Asia and Europe was signed. The collection will be based on metaphysical images, phantasmagoric illustrations and theatrical sketches of costumes and scenery for the ballets "The Nutcracker" and "The Magic Nut" created by Shemyakin for the Mariinsky Theater.
"We have been keeping an eye on Mikhail Shemyakin's art for a long time and we consider him to be one of the most outstanding artists of our time. We prefer all the best and grateful that Mikhail Shemyakin entrusted his work to us. This unique project will undoubtedly arouse genuine interest among connoisseurs of not only jewelry art but fine as well," commented Mikhail Sasonko, head of SASONKO Jewelry House, on the beginning of a long-term cooperation with the artist. Mikhail Shemyakin already worked in the field of jewelry, once recreating in the precious metal characters from his famous series of works "Carnivals of St. Petersburg" in the form of brooches, as well as working with the Imperial Porcelain Factory, which produces a collection of dishes and porcelain sculpture based on his drawings and sketches.
"The first thing that interested me in the project with the jewelry house SASONKO - a high professional level, the skill of transforming the author's ideas in the metal. Besides this, it is interesting for me to create jewelry for beautiful women. Having traveled the whole world, I can say for sure that the most beautiful women live in Russia,” says Shemyakin.
Specially for the premiere of the collection, the House of Sasonko plans to open new gallery spaces in Moscow. The collection is scheduled for release in autumn 2016.
